Accounting Specialist - FMS

Job Overview:



As an Accounting Specialist working with Xyntax Group Inc. clients, specifically First Nation Governments, your primary responsibility is to assist with bookkeeping, clean up of financial records, audit preparation, and compliance with reporting requirements. You will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate financial records, transparency, and adherence to relevant regulations with our clients. This position requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, knowledge of government financial policies, and cultural sensitivity to work effectively with First Nation communities.

CFO & Director, FMS

Key Responsibilities:



Bookkeeping and Financial Clean-up Work:

Reconciling and providing up-to-date financial records for First Nation governments. Record and classify financial transactions, ensuring proper documentation and adherence to accounting standards. Cleaning up financial records in Inexsuite, Sage, and other software used by FMS clients. Includes: bank reconciliation work, AR/AP clean-up, and any other bookkeeping as specified by client engagements.

Compliance and Reporting:

Ensure compliance with government financial regulations, policies, and procedures. Assist clients in preparing financial reports to relevant authorities, including government agencies and funding organizations.

Audit Support:

Facilitate and support external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations. Implement recommendations from audit reports to strengthen financial controls.

Training and Capacity Building:

Provide financial training and support to community members and staff as needed. Enhance the financial management capacity within client organizations.

Qualifications:



Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Experience in accounting, financial management, or auditing. Familiarity with the cultural and historical context of the specific First Nation community is an asset. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
