Reports to: Accounting Manager

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized

Accounting Clerk

to join our collaborative Finance team in the travel industry. Our department handles a wide range of financial functions--including commission reconciliation, accounts payable, general ledger entries, and financial reporting--and each team member takes the lead in different areas.

Our primary vendors include travel suppliers such as cruise lines, hotels, airlines & tour operators; and our customers are IC's across Canada selling travel.

This role requires a candidate with a broad foundation in accounting and finance, and the flexibility to support various functions depending on team needs. While you may not be responsible for every task listed below, you should have the experience and skills to contribute across multiple areas as part of a supportive and dynamic team.

Key Areas of Responsibility

As part of our team, you may contribute in one or more of the following areas:

Commission Processing & Reconciliation



Reconcile high volumes of commission payments against invoices and statements with accuracy and efficiency.

Investigate and resolve discrepancies in commission calculations or allocations.

Ensure timely posting of commission receipts to advisor accounts.

General Ledger (GL) Entries



Record and classify journal entries in accordance with transaction type and company policies.

Maintain accurate financial records to support month-end and year-end close processes.

Accounts Payable



Set up supplier payments based on Independent Contractor (IC) requests, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery.

Reconcile supplier statements for commission recalls or client refunds.

Support compliance with contractual agreements and internal policies.

Financial Support & Administration



Assist with account reconciliations, reporting, and audit preparation as needed.

Maintain organized financial records and documentation.

Provide responsive, professional communication to internal teams and external partners.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education & Experience



Diploma or certificate in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

2+ years of accounting or finance experience, ideally in a high-volume environment.

Experience in the travel industry is considered an asset.

Skills & Competencies



Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.

Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP, formulas).

High attention to detail with the ability to manage large sets of financial data.

Effective time management and organizational skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Customer service mindset to support inquiries through platforms like Zendesk.

Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar) is an asset.
