Accounting Manager

:




The Accounting Manager oversees financial reporting, internal controls, and accounting processes, collaborating with other teams handling transactions like accounts payable and payroll. This role ensures accurate and timely execution of accounting functions by coordinating with internal and external stakeholders. The position is vital in supporting company growth through strong financial oversight and compliance with accounting standards and policies.


How will you contribute to the team?:





To perform this role successfully, the candidate will be responsible for but not limited to the following:


Manage all accounting functions, including general ledger, financial statements, banking, fixed assets, accounts receivable, and accounts payable. Oversee cash flow management by monitoring daily cash flow, managing bank borrowings and Letters of Credit, and handling foreign currency transactions. Lead taxation activities including coordination of filings, managing tax installments and correspondence, maintaining registrations, monitoring tax regulations, and supporting tax planning. Manage accounting and financial processes for Joint Venture projects, including cost allocations and intercompany transactions, adapting to evolving project requirements. Review local and expatriate payroll and oversee government remittances. Oversee audit functions by coordinating with external audit firms and managing year-end analysis packages. Liaise with banks regarding banking setups and daily operational inquiries. Interface with government auditors as needed. Assist in the preparation of annual budgets. Report on financial performance to senior management, Obayashi headquarters, and the board of directors as required. Support operations by completing finance-related sections of bid submissions, ensuring accuracy and alignment with company financials. Ensure compliance with financial laws, regulations, and internal policies. Safeguard company cash and physical assets. Establish and maintain relationships with corporate banking institutions, surety companies, and insurance providers; review activities and recommend improvements.



Education and Experience:


Undergraduate degree or diploma in Accounting or Business CPA designation A minimum of 10 years of experience in a senior accounting role Sound knowledge of GAAP and ASPE Strong knowledge of Canadian Taxation Prior experience with the following accounting functions is required: GL & Financial Statements, Banking, Fixed Asset Accounting, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable and Payroll Prior experience in the construction industry would be an asset Strong verbal and written communication skills Effective at problem solving and decision making Leadership Skills (coaching, motivating, delegating, managing performance) Must be able to think and plan strategically Time Management and Organization Skills
