Role Summary

Reporting to the Head of Accounting, the Accounting Manager will oversee the daily operations of the accounting department. The successful candidate will ensure accurate reporting, manage internal controls and focus on supporting the team in reporting and measuring the information and assets of our company.


This position will be based out of our Mississauga office.

Core Responsibilities

Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting team, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and bank reconciliations. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with accounting standards. Monitor and analyze accounting data, producing financial reports and statements. Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis processes. Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end close processes. Maintain and enforce internal controls and compliance with all relevant laws and regulations. Coordinate with external auditors and provide necessary documentation during audits. Train, supervise, and evaluate accounting staff performance. Assist with process improvement and system implementation initiatives. Ensure accurate and timely month-end and year-end closings, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations. Oversee the implementation or optimization of accounting software and tools. Maintain the chart of accounts and ensure appropriate coding of all transactions. Prepare internal financial reports for leadership to support strategic planning and decision-making. Partner with other departments (e.g., operations, HR, and technology) to align accounting practices with business needs. Monitor cash flow and assist with cash forecasting and management. Manage vendor relationships and ensure timely processing of payables and receivables. Assist with regulatory compliance, including tax filings, HST/GST remittances, and government reporting. Support budgeting and forecasting efforts by providing historical data and variance analysis. Identify and address areas for automation and efficiency improvements within financial operations. Assist in developing KPIs and dashboards to track financial health and operational performance. Train and mentor junior accounting staff as the department grows.

Required Skills and Experience

Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field CPA designation is an asset Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role. Strong understanding of accounting principles (GAAP/IFRS). Proficient in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Rent Manager). Excellent analytical, organizational, and leadership skills. High attention to detail and accuracy. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
