Boiler Tube Industries Inc. is an Alberta based company that operates an ABSA approved facility with the expertise to design, manufacture, fabricate, alter, test and install pressure and non-pressure components. Our field operations provide mechanical services for scheduled, unscheduled and emergency repairs. Position Summary:



Responsible for planning, directing and implementing all company accounting programs and activities, the Accounting Manager brings focus and commitment to ensure Generally Accepted Accounting Principles are adhered to, coordinating and directing staff into a cohesive unit. This position ensures the organization employs a range of practices used to identify, create, represent and distribute knowledge for re-use and learning, providing Company ownership with timely reporting on financial issues that impact the organization's ability to carry on business.





Position Duties & Responsibilities:


Maintains the Company's system of accounts and ensures accurate records are maintained for all Company transactions and assets either directly or through direct reports

Directs and provides Company employees with accounting procedures and training in accounting system applications to maintain proper records and adequate accounting controls according to Company policies and procedures

Ensures the accounting department follows generally accepted accounting principles

Supervises, directs and manages accounting team, providing leadership that encourages cohesive achievement of department deliverables

Responsible for the personnel actions of all accounting staff including recruitment, promotions, discipline and terminations in conjunction with Company ownership

Prepares monthly financial reporting information including income statement and balance sheet

Prepares financial analysis of operations, variance to budget analysis and key performance indicators for the guidance of company ownership

Responsible for the company's fiscal records maintenance and the preparation of financial reports

Supervision, oversight and direction over full cycle accounting, internal auditing, cost accounting and budgetary administration and controls

Responsible for company compliance with all federal, provincial, municipal, corporate, payroll, GST and any other applicable taxes, levies and filing requirements

Ensures accurate, timely payroll compilation and preparation for all salaried and hourly employees

Coordination and supervision of accounts receivable and accounts payables activities

Preparation and or reconciliation of corporate credit and cash activities including cash application, credit card and bank reconciliation, credit granting and collections




Required Skills, Experience & Qualifications:


Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation

Minimum 4 years of progressive accounting experience, including demonstrated success in a supervisory or management role

Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting practices and principles, the preparation of financial statements, schedules and reports, and auditing practices and principles

Background in an industrial manufacturing environment is strongly preferred

Intermediate level computer skills including demonstrated proficiency in excel, access, word and general accounting and inventory software

Demonstrated knowledge of basic business and general office administration practices, processes and procedures

Experience with payroll applications and systems

Demonstrated ability to work with confidential information

Excellent analytical and organizational skills; the ability to think and plan ahead and manage multiple projects, prioritize and meet deadlines

Strong follow up skills; stays on top of the issue until satisfactory resolution is achieved

Exceptional verbal and written communication and listening skills

Customer focused with demonstrated customer relation skills

Well developed interpersonal skills; works collaboratively with co-workers

Ability to work independently under pressure
