We are looking for a highly detail-oriented and capable
Accounting Lead
to oversee our full-cycle accounting operations. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who is comfortable owning the accounting function from top to bottom--from data entry to financial reporting--and thrives in a fast-paced, systems-driven retail and eCommerce environment.
You'll be the primary point person for all accounting activities at Home Coffee Solutions, working closely with the leadership team and with occasional support from external advisors for year-end activities. This role is pivotal in overseeing our accounting operations, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, and supporting our growth objectives. Located in Mississauga, this position will play a key role in shaping our financial strategies.
Key Responsibilities
Own and manage the full-cycle accounting process: Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, payroll prep, reconciliations, and reporting
Reconcile Shopify payment gateways (e.g. Shopify Payments, PayPal, etc.), and bank deposits
Track and reconcile inventory, COGS, and returns across systems like QuickBooks, SkuVault, and Shopify
Enter and reconcile MAP pricing, scanbacks, and vendor rebate programs
Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reports and support external accountants with audit-readiness
Maintain meticulously accurate and consistent financial records and general ledger entries;
Identify, investigate, and resolve discrepancies in financial records
Help implement and improve accounting controls, processes, and smart spreadsheets that support how our systems (Shopify, QuickBooks, SkuVault, etc.) work together
Liaise with the leadership team regularly to flag issues, recommend improvements, and help support financial decision-making
Ensure compliance with company policies and relevant accounting standards
What We're Looking For
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
4+ years of accounting experience
, preferably in a retail, eCommerce, or product-based environment
Strong hands-on experience with QuickBooks Online, including reconciliations and full-cycle accounting
Proficient in Excel/Google Sheets -- formulas, pivots, and creating smart, accurate tools
Experience working across multiple systems (e.g. Shopify, SkuVault, inventory systems, payment gateways)
Understanding of retail/eCommerce-specific processes like scanbacks, vendor rebates, payment gateway reconciliation, MAP pricing, and online sales tax
Demonstrated attention to detail and consistency -- this is non-negotiable in our accounting workflows
Comfortable working independently, taking initiative, and managing competing priorities
Strong knowledge of Canadian accounting practices and regulatory requirements
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Ability to troubleshoot system flows, spot discrepancies, and implement process improvements
Bonus: Experience with Power BI, Looker Studio, or similar tools for financial dashboarding
Nice-to-Have Assets
Familiarity with inventory valuation methods (FIFO/WAC)
Prior experience working in a small business setting where you wore multiple hats
Experience with platforms like LoopReturns or other eComm-focused accounting integrations
