OUTCOMES
The Accounting Intern is an entry-level role supporting the Finance & Operations team with bookkeeping, financial administration, and internal reporting. The Intern will assist in maintaining accurate and organized records, contribute to monthly accounting cycles, and gain valuable exposure to the nonprofit financial management landscape.
In this role, the intern will gain experience in accounting software (QuickBooks Online), nonprofit reporting, grant tracking, and financial analysis while developing a deeper understanding of how financial practices support social enterprise operations and community impact.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist with monthly bookkeeping and account reconciliations in QuickBooks Online
Support accounts payable and receivable tracking and processing
Prepare and update financial reports and summaries for internal use
Help with grant, program, and funder reporting by tracking restricted and unrestricted revenue
Organize and maintain financial documentation, files, and digital records
Assist with preparations for year-end and audit activities
Support improvements to finance systems, tools, and documentation (e.g., SOPs, checklists)
Participate in team meetings and contribute to a collaborative finance function
KEY SKILLS
Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
Familiarity with Excel/Google Sheets; comfort working with data
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
Willingness to learn accounting tools (QuickBooks Online experience is an asset)
Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
Interest in nonprofit finance, social enterprise, and community impact
