to join our Finance team at our abrasive manufacturing plant in Ontario. This role will play a key part in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of financial data, supporting month-end and year-end processes, managing reconciliations. The ideal candidate will be highly analytical, organized, and capable of working both independently and collaboratively.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and review account reconciliations and identify discrepancies by examining possible sources of error.
Analyze and reconcile discrepancies by recreating likely accounting actions and preparing correction documents as needed.
Record and process journal entries in support of the month-end and year-end closing process.
Support month-end closing activities to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
Prepare stock reconciliations for WMX and WUS.
Develop and maintain Excel workbooks to refine and improve financial processes.
Involvement in weekly cash forecasting.
Prepare ad hoc financial analyses to support business decision-making and operational planning.
Serve as backup for Accounts Receivable (A/R), including processing daily invoices/credits, applying cash receipts, and assisting with collections of past-due accounts.
Provide backup support for Accounts Payable (A/P), including invoice entry and processing wire payments.
Perform intercompany reconciliations for AP/AR with Winoa Canada, US, and Mexico.
File and submit monthly Statistics Canada reports.
Monitor General Ledger (GL) to ensure purchase orders (POs) are properly coded to the correct inventory items.
Revamp and maintain a fixed asset subledger and implement a capital spending tracking procedure.
Support the annual external audit by preparing required schedules and documentation.
Work with various currencies and correct and adjust for FX impacts.
Assist with the annual year-end audit process and various audits throughout the year.
Qualifications:
Minimum 3+ years of accounting experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, with strong command of pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and financial formulas.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to multitask, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines.
High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent time management and organizational abilities.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
