What You\xe2\x80\x99ll Do:
Reporting to the Assistant Manager, Accounting, you will be responsible for providing accounting support to the Finance and Accounting department and performing related duties to assist the Accountants, the Assistant Manager, Accounting and the Manager, Accounting. The core parts of your role will be to:

  • Prepares daily and monthly bank reconciliations and standard bank journal entries to ensure bank account accuracy.
  • Posts account transactions and maintains accounts for general ledgers and sub-systems
  • Processes payments and creates journal entries
  • Processes cheque deposits, provides deposit reports and maintains related records
  • Prepares government remittances for assigned companies
  • Reconciles the accounts, analyzes cash receipts, investigates errors, and ensures their correction by appropriate staff.
  • Provides administrative support within the Finance and Accounting department including posting journal entries, gathering, sorting and filing documents and information, as requested.
  • Prepares year-end audit schedules for all entities, and assists external auditors as required.
  • Provides back-up support to Group Life and Disability claims (GL&DC) payment processing and required reporting.
  • Provides back-up support for the company corporate credit card program. This includes preparing and posting monthly journal entries, administering permissions, following-up on outstanding items, resolving issues with vendors and staff, and maintaining accounts and reporting hierarchy.


Qualifications

This is the unique blend of skills and experience we would love to see in an ideal candidate:
  • Post-secondary completion or in progress in a finance, accounting or business related discipline.
  • First level or equivalent in a recognized accounting designation program.
  • A minimum of two years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in general accounting.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications and accounting software such as Microsoft Dynamics 365 or ACCPAC Accounting, G/L, A/P and Cash Management.
  • Knowledge of all balancing procedures including accounts payable, accounts receivable and bank reconciliations.
  • The demonstrated ability to collect, compare and analyze all information and figures in great detail, while using creative and strategic approaches to solve complex problems and concepts.
  • Superior time management and organizational skills to manage competing priorities, including strong project management skills.
  • Exceptional communication skills and a demonstrated ability to deal effectively with all levels of internal and external stakeholders.
  • The ability to communicate in French is considered an asset.
