ACCOUNTING COORDINATOR
Tercot Communities Tercot Communities is a land development and construction company specializing in the residential housing market in the Southern Ontario region. We are a young, growing, and tight-knit team with a passion for innovation, design, and sustainability. We are in the heart of downtown Toronto, a short walk from Union Station.
The Position:
We are looking for an analytical, detail-oriented, and driven Accounting Coordinator to join our growing team. The successful candidate will assist the Financial Controller in managing all aspects of the day-to-day financial operation of the business.
The position is full-time.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the day-to-day accounting for various projects, with focus on AP, AR, payroll, and employee expenses.
  • Full-cycle bookkeeping, with focus on the preparation of adjusting journal entries.
  • Manage all banking transactions, including deposits, wire transfers, and bank/credit card reconciliation.
  • Track mortgage payments for multiple projects.
  • File payroll source deductions, WSIB, and EHT filing.
  • Assist in filing HST and corporate tax returns.
  • Assist with year-end filings and audits, as required.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial reporting.
  • Assist in updating project cash flow forecasts and monthly budget forecasts.
  • Provide support for all ad hoc accounting requests.
  • Proactively identify areas for improvement in accounting processes.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum one year experience in a similar role.
  • Undergraduate degree/diploma in accounting, finance, or related field, with plans to pursue CPA designation.
  • Experience in the real estate investment and/or development industry required.
  • Excellent accounting skills and ability to apply accounting theory, GAAP, and (knowledge of) IFRS.
  • Quick-learning, self-driven, and motivated professional.
  • Exceptional organizational skills - multitask effectively and accurately with a strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills - both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work independently, solve problems, and use sound judgment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office with advanced MS Excel spreadsheet skills.
  • Experience in a public accounting firm an asset.
  • Knowledge of Jonas Premier Accounting Software an asset.
