About Us



Cape Breton Beverages, a family-owned Pepsi bottling franchise, has proudly served Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia since 1949. Alongside our sister company, Trans-Atlantic Preforms, established in 1989, we employ over 100 dedicated individuals on Cape Breton Island. We locally bottle Pepsi, 7-Up, Schweppes, and Crush soft-drink products and distribute other beverages including Aquafina, Montellier, Bubly and Evian waters, along with Gatorade, Dole, Lipton, Starbucks, Guru, Rockstar and Celsius beverages. Additionally, we bottle specific packages of Pepsi and other branded soft drinks for the Maritimes, Quebec, and Ontario.

Position Overview


We are seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Accounting Coordinator to join our office accounting team. This position focuses primarily on Accounts Receivable while also supporting general accounting and office operations. The ideal candidate is a collaborative team player who brings both financial acumen and operational expertise to support our growing business. Strong communication skills are essential, as this role works closely with cross-functional teams, vendors and customers to ensure clarity and accuracy in all financial and operational matters. We also welcome applicants who are pursuing or planning to pursue their CPA designation, and will provide a supportive environment to help you achieve that goal.

Working closely with the Office Manager, this role offers an excellent opportunity to gain broad accounting experience and grow within the organization. As part of our long-term succession plan, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to advance into the Office Manager role in the coming years.

Key Responsibilities



Accounting Operations



Manage the full cycle of Accounts Receivable (AR) including invoicing, payment application, and reconciliation. Assist with Accounts Payable (AP) and general ledger entries as required. Accurately prepare and process invoices, ensuring all approvals and documentation are in place. Record journal entries and assist in maintaining the general ledger. Reconcile cash transactions and monitor outstanding balances to ensure accuracy in financial records. Support month-end and year-end close processes, including balancing and reporting. Provide payroll support and assist with employee time tracking. Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., Sales) to resolve billing and payment issues. Prepare and provide documentation for internal and external audits.

Operations Coordination



Assist with ordering, shipping, and receiving of raw materials, packaging materials, and finished goods. Coordinate and maintain the point-of-sale (POS) system to ensure transaction accuracy. Perform general office and administrative duties as needed.

Skills & Qualifications



Minimum 2 years of experience in accounting, finance, procurement, or inventory management Diploma or degree with a focus in Accounting, Business or Finance, or 5+years of relevant work experience Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with external partners. Strong knowledge of financial reconciliation and accounting best practices Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills High attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines Proficiency with accounting software (Sage) and Microsoft Office (Excel, etc.) Experience with POS systems and inventory coordination is an asset Interest in or progress toward a CPA designation is considered an asset; support will be provided for professional development and training.
