BNA O&M General Partnership (BNAOM), a partnership of ACS Infrastructure Canada, Fluor Canada, and Aecon Group Inc., is seeking candidates for the Operations and Maintenance of the Gordie Howe International Bridge project.
Bridging North America (BNA) was selected to design, build, finance, operate and maintain the CAD $6.4 billion Gordie Howe International Bridge project for Windsor-Detroit Bridge Authority (WDBA) - a Public-Private-Partnership (P3). BNA O&M is the OMR entity managing the Operations, Maintenance, and Rehabilitation of the Project for a term of 30 years.
When completed, the bridge will be the longest cable-stayed bridge in North America. The project includes a bridge and border crossing spanning the Detroit River and connecting Detroit, Michigan, U.S., and Windsor, Ontario, Canada, by linking Interstate 75 and Interstate 96 in Michigan with the new extension of Highway 401 (Rt. Hon. Herb Gray Parkway) in Ontario. The scope also includes building new, state-of-the-art ports of entry on both the U.S. and Canadian sides of the Detroit River as well as improvements to existing infrastructure in both Michigan and Ontario.
The Canadian Port of Entry is an approximate 53 hectare or 130-acre site and will be the largest Canadian port along the Canada-US border, and one of the largest anywhere in North America. It includes inbound border inspection facilities for both passenger and commercial vehicles, outbound inspection facilities, toll collection facilities, a maintenance facility and parking.
The US Port of Entry has an approximate 68 hectare or 167-acre site and will be one of the largest US ports along the Canada-US border and in North America. It includes US inbound border inspection facilities for both passenger and commercial vehicles, US outbound inspection facilities, commercial exit control booths and parking.
Job Summary
The Accounting Clerk will report to the Accounting Manager, or other such person as may be designated by the CEO, supports the accounting department and is responsible for performing administrative and entry-level accounting tasks, such as processing invoices, managing accounts payable and receivable, performing data entry, reconciling bank statements, and maintaining financial records using accounting software and spreadsheets. directly supports and assists BNA O&M senior management to plan and mobilize BNAOM for the Interim Operation and Maintenance period and the Operation, Maintenance and Rehabilitation period of the project.
Roles & Responsibilities
Prepare, process and send invoices to customers, manage accounts payable, review accounts receivable, ensure timely payments and follow-up on outstanding accounts
Process vendor invoices, match them with purchase orders and other supporting documentation and enter data into accounting system
Assist with the preparation of bank deposits, account reconciliations, bank statements with company records, general ledger entries, and financial statements
Handle cash transactions including issuing opening floats to Toll Collectors and counting and reconciling closing floats
Perform audit, daily reconciliation and reporting on the toll collection (cash, cheques and all types of electronic transactions)
Handle day-to-day operation with payment processor, bank and armored vehicle services
Assist with tracking and resolving discrepancies in financial records
Provide accounting and clerical support, including maintaining financial documents and records (including receipts, invoices, and other relevant documents) and ensuring documents are accurate, recorded, organized and easily accessible
Assist in the processing of bi-weekly payroll
Provide support to company personnel in understanding financial documentation and policies
Gather and organize financial data, compile reports and summaries related to financial activities for internal and external use including income statements, balance sheets
Communicate with other accounting staff, departments, and vendors to resolve issues and gather information
Participate, collaborate, and contribute to BNAOM development and implementation of company, human resource, finance, technical, IT, tolling, contractual, operations, and maintenance policies, plans, and procedures.
Participate and play an active role in the continuation of the safety and security culture on the project, making safety and security a natural part of all work performed
Adhere to and support BNA's Health, Safety, Quality, Environmental, Security, and Sustainability Policies and standards
Document and report all injuries and any incidents.
Document damage or changes in condition of project assets. Prepare claim requests in the event of accidents caused by third parties.
Perform other duties as assigned or directed
Adhere to established standards, procedures, and legal requirements in all accounting tasks
Continuously improve accounting knowledge and skills through training and staying updated on industry standards
Qualification & Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent at minimum required; diploma in Accounting or related field preferred
Proven accounting experience, preferably as an Accounts Receivable Clerk or Accounts Payable Clerk
Strong understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting procedures required
Cash accounting which includes recording money received or distributed, preparing bank deposits and reconciling accounts.
Competency in MS Office and QuickBooks software or other accounting systems
Hands-on experience with spreadsheets and financial report preparation
High attention to detail and accuracy in financial data entry and reporting
Strong organizational skills for managing filing, record-keeping, and financial documentation
Effective data entry and word processing skills
Strong written and verbal communications skills.
A commitment to handling sensitive financial information with integrity and professionalism
Ability to manage daily, month-end and year-end accounting processes in a timely manner
Ability to travel and be admissible into the United States
Ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance
