SMS Equipment is seeking an Accounting Clerk for our Corporate Office located in Acheson, AB. This position is a Temporary Full-Time role and will provide parental leave coverage for a term of approximately 20 months. The incumbent will be responsible for providing accounting support and activities that support treasury, cash application and fixed assets.
This position offers a hybrid work environment, providing the opportunity to work remotely up to 2 days per week.
The salary range for this position is $57,000-$62,000. This temporary position is eligible for extended health benefits.
What you'll do:

• Support daily treasury activities, including preparing banking reports, setting up wire transfers, and managing forward contracts.
• Coordinate with financial institutions on banking transactions and loan management.
• Manage fixed assets by ensuring timely capitalization and disposal of fixed assets, analysis of Construction in process, depreciation posting, and maintaining continuity schedules.
• Perform monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts and subledgers, investigating discrepancies and preparing necessary journal entries.
• Provide cash application support and coverage, including applying payments to customer AR accounts and reconciling unapplied cash.
• Collaborate with internal teams to resolve banking inquiries and support audit requirements related to customer payments.

What you bring:
The successful candidate will possess an Accounting Diploma or Degree and 1-3 years' experience in a related role.
Additional requirements include:

• Experience in Accounts Receivable or Fixed asset management is an asset
• Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel
• Ability to work in a team or individualized environment to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities
• Detail-oriented with a keen willingness to learn
• Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
• Strong time management skills to complete cash application & treasury tasks that are time sensitive
• Ability to communicate and develop rapport with finance personnel and operations
