Position Overview




The Accounting Clerk is responsible for the administration of accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, as well as general accounting and administrative support. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
The successful candidate will demonstrate professionalism in customer service, sound decision-making, and excellent oral and written communication skills. The position requires comfort working with the public, the ability to handle confidential information, and a commitment to teamwork and accuracy.

Key Responsibilities



1. Accounts Payable



Accurately enter all invoices, expenses and bills into the accounting software (QuickBooks). Perform credit card reconciliations. Prepare AP Aging Report for all departments. Process payments prior to the due date. Report financial totals using spreadsheets and provide summaries to management as needed.

2. Accounts Receivable

Analyze daily cash sheets and prepare monthly cash sheet summaries. Prepare monthly invoices to families and ensure timely collection of payments. Process all accounts receivable fee payments for all departments. Prepare and manage monthly trade accounts receivable and record payments, including donations and government funding. Prepare NSF and declined payment reports; contact account holders as required.

. Communication and Customer Service



Communicate with parents, members, and staff regarding financial matters, payment arrangements, and account status. Provide excellent customer service while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism in all financial communications. Support colleagues and departments with financial information as needed.

. General Administration



Assist with reconciliations, reporting, and general administrative support to the Finance Department. Maintain organized and accurate filing systems (electronic and hard copy). Perform other related duties as assigned to support the overall operations of the Finance Department.

Qualifications



Diploma or certificate in Accounting, Business Administration, or equivalent experience. Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, or general accounting. Proficiency with accounting software (QuickBooks preferred) and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel. Strong organizational and time management skills with excellent attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication and customer service skills. Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Work Environment and Conditions



Full-time position based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Standard business hours, with occasional flexibility as needed during month-end or audit periods. Work is primarily office-based with regular use of computers and accounting software. * Active participation in Association-wide initiatives and staff meetings.
