Position: Accounting Clerk
Location: Ottawa
Salary: $30 to $43 an hour commensurate upon experience
Job Type: 6-month maternity leave contract
Start Date: ASAP
Work Schedule: Hybrid (1-2 days per week on-site)
Hours: Flexible, anytime between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PMJob Overview:We are seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Accounting Clerk to cover a 6-month maternity leave. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in accounting, with a strong focus on cash flow management, accounts payable (AP), and accounts receivable (AR). Experience with Jonas accounting software and the construction industry is highly preferred. This role offers flexibility in working hours and the opportunity to work in a hybrid environment.Key Responsibilities:- Cash Flow Management: Monitor and manage the company\'s cash flow to ensure financial stability.
- General Financial Oversight: Keep a close eye on overall financial health, including budget adherence and expense tracking.
- Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable: Process invoices, manage payments, and follow up on outstanding receivables.
- Monthly Bank Reconciliation: Reconcile bank statements to ensure accuracy in financial reporting.
- HST Filing: Prepare and file HST returns in a timely manner.
- Payroll Processing: Upload payroll hours to ADP every Monday.
- Data Entry: Enter invoices and credit card receipts into the accounting system.Qualifications:- Experience: Minimum of 5 years in an accounting role, preferably within the construction industry.
- Software: Experience with Jonas accounting software is a strong asset.
- Skills: Strong knowledge of cash flow management, AP/AR processes, and bank reconciliation.
- Language: Bilingual (French/English) is preferred but not mandatory.Work Environment:This role is based in a smaller firm with a close-knit team of 25-30 employees.
