About the Role



K'omoks First Nation is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Accounting Clerk to support the Finance Department with a wide range of accounting and payroll responsibilities.

Reporting to the Director of Finance, this position plays a key role in processing financial transactions, preparing reports, maintaining records, and assisting with audits, compliance filings, and employee payroll support.

What You'll Do



Maintain accurate financial records and reconcile banking files and reports

Process accounts receivable/payable and monthly invoices for rent, utilities, etc.

Administer bi-weekly payroll and related adjustments, including employee inquiries

Prepare records of employment (ROEs), T4s, and Receiver General filings

Serve as plan administrator and liaison for group benefits and pension plans

Support property tax cycle and financial audit preparation

Track and reconcile monthly expenses and revenues

Prepare bank deposits and credit card transactions

Maintain financial policies, procedures, and organized filing systems

Support new employee onboarding and payroll file setup

Ensure compliance with WCB, OSFI, and EAHOR reporting requirements

Take minutes for Financial Advisory Committee meetings

Assist with various administrative and clerical financial tasks as needed

What You Bring



Diploma or certificate in accounting or bookkeeping (required)

5+ years of direct accounting or bookkeeping experience

PCP (Payroll Compliance Professional) Designation from the National Payroll Institute (required)

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Word) and financial software (e.g., Xyntax, Sage Intacct, etc.)

Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy

Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Cultural sensitivity and awareness of First Nations governance and community dynamics

Experience working in and with Indigenous communities is preferred
