The Position:
We are looking for a full-time, entry-level Accounting Associate. Reporting to the Controller, the Accounting Associate performs a variety of accounting duties including, but not limited to, petty cash disbursements, bank deposits, and accounts payable. This is a vital role in the day-to-day operations of the Accounting Department.
The schedule for this position is Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Petty Cash Disbursements:
Following approved Agency procedures, process and disburse petty cash requests; code and enter daily disbursements.
Reconcile and record returned receipts and unspent petty cash.
Reconcile petty cash balance on a daily basis.
Make copies of billable receipts.
Prepare and submit weekly petty cash fund order sheets to bank.
Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable:
Following approved Agency procedures for processing expenses and revenue
Perform administrative tasks (data entry, reconciliation, coding, emailing, and filing)
Payable (vendor invoices, credit cards, inventory, employee reimbursements, POs)
Receivable (invoice billing, Referral & Evaluations, Fee for service, contract billing)
Review weekly cheque run edit list and match payment to vouchers.
Perform weekly cheque run as needed.
Other Duties:
Order office and program supplies.
Assist accounting team in meeting deadlines.
Perform other clerical tasks as required.
Provide backup for other accounting roles during vacation/sick-time periods.

Qualifications and Skills:
High school diploma with some working experience in an accounting role.
Demonstrated record-keeping skills and a high level of accuracy and accountability.
Strong math, accounting and computer skills including intermediate knowledge of Excel; knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics is an asset.
Detail oriented, strong organizational and time management skills and ability to balance multiple priorities and work efficiently.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Ability to develop and maintain professional and effective relationships with staff and external parties.
Self-motivated and ability to take initiative and work independently.
Ability to work as part of a team, and willingness to perform a variety of support tasks.
A Police Information Check is required (or is in process of being completed) prior to employment.
A Child Intervention Record Check is required upon commencement of employment.
