We are seeking a dynamic professional to join our team as an Accounting Assistant. As an Accounting Assistant, you will be responsible for supporting the finance and accounting operations. The ideal candidate will have experience with basic accounting principals and a willingness to learn. Strong attention to detail as well as the ability to work accurately and efficiently will be key ingredients to success in this role. Key Roles & Responsibilities:
Manage accounts payable, prepare and send invoices to customers and pay supplier invoices in a timely manner
Maintain accounts receivable files and records, collect and monitor outstanding balances to ensure each account is paid on time and in full
Assist in month-end/quarter-end/year-end financial reporting
Issue financial statements and provide job costing
Verify and reconcile bank transactions and complete deposits
Enter and maintain financial data in Excel and other accounting software; maintain an orderly accounting filing system
Provide financial information and reports to manager and finance team
Assist with answering the phone, greeting visitors, monitoring and ordering office supplies and preparing shipments
Qualifications & Skills:
College diploma/university degree in Accounting or Finance
3 years minimum of relevant experience in accounting
CPA or working towards CPA an asset
Experience with QuickBooks
Strong attention to detail
Organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
Problem solving and analytical skills
Ability to work within a team environment and independently
Proficiency with financial accounting software
Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
