Accounting Analyst

POSITION SUMMARY:
The position is responsible for performing full cycle Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Home Child Care billings and payments. This position ensures accurate data entry, data analysis, reporting, and reconciliation. The Accounting Analysist actively participates in ongoing Accounting system testing, implementation, and improvements. This position takes ownership of their assigned portfolio, meeting all requirements and timelines. This position is currently based at
Head Office - 400, 2010 Eglinton Ave W #400, York, ON M6E 2K3.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Accounts Payable
Verify, update, and process invoices
Accurate and timely payment processing of vendors invoices and staff reimbursements. Ensure all payments are compliant with company policies and procedures including proper authorization, approval, and coding.
Follow up with staff and vendors to ensure issues with invoices are resolved and payments are processed in a timely manner.
Verify, investigate and resolve payment discrepancies.
Reconcile vendor accounts, monthly vendor statements, Accounts Payable subsidiary and general ledger
Accounts Receivable (Child Care Centres and Home Child Care)
Verify and process child care client billings
Maintain and ensure accuracy of client transactions on a timely basis
Analyze and generate database reports such as billing/payment/adjustment reports required for journal entries and client account report
Reconcile multiple client/billing reports
Investigate and resolve inquiries regarding client accounts, billing, and or payments
Home Child Care Payments
Accurate and timely processing of payments to Home Child Care Providers
Reconcile provider payments against funds receive from different sources (e.g. City of Toronto Subsidy and other government grants).
Investigate and resolve inquiries and requests from Home Child Care Providers and funders
QUALIFICATIONS:
University degree in finance/accounting or an equivalent combination of education/experience.
Working towards professional designation preferred (e.g. level 1 or 2 of the CPA program).
Minimum 5 years working experience in accounting/bookkeeping.
Intermediate to advanced technical skills and experience using Accounting software and the Microsoft Office Suite such as Excel.
Intermediate knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles.
Strong organizational and time management skills with capabilities to manage projects and the ability/flexibility to multi task and prioritize effectively.
Ability to adapt and adjust quickly to changing circumstances in the workplace.
Demonstrated high degree of initiative and problem solving with keen attention to details and accuracy.
Proven ability to effectively develop, organize and maintain data management systems.
Ability to apply sound judgement to a variety of situations demonstrating tact and diplomacy.
Reliable and able to carry out tasks independently and collaboratively.
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective work partnerships with parents/families and colleagues of a diverse background, abilities and identities.
Strong written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
Highly motivated to continually strive for excellent results including on-going improvements to work processes.
Acceptable Vulnerable Sector Police Reference Check.
SALARY:
Accounting Analyst Salary Scale (Starting at $31.47/hour- $57, 274 - $66,081 per annum) with Competitive Benefits Package (health & dental) and paid time off entitlements (starting at 20 vacation days & 3 float days).
