Position Overview
The Accounting Analyst plays a key role in supporting the organization's financial planning, reporting, and analysis activities. This position is responsible for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of financial data, preparing budgets and forecasts, supporting audits, and driving process improvements.
This role is ideal for professionals with intermediate accounting experience who want to broaden their financial analysis and reporting responsibilities. The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, and technologically savvy, with strong communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting Operations & Data Integrity
Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data through proper coding, transaction review, and preparation or validation of journal entries and adjustments.
Participate in the month-end and year-end close processes, including accruals, adjustments, financial statement preparation, and variance analysis.
Perform monthly account reconciliations and monitor compliance with internal controls and financial policies, recommending improvements as needed.
Assist in cash flow monitoring and forecasting to ensure adequate liquidity and provide insight into cash trends and variances.
Support audit activities by preparing schedules, providing documentation, performing financial analysis, and responding to inquiries from external auditors.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide financial insights that support operational and strategic decision-making.
Identify trends and opportunities to drive operational efficiency and business performance.
Financial Planning & Analysis
Assist in the preparation of annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, and long-range financial plans.
Develop, update, and maintain financial models for business units, departments, and strategic initiatives.
Perform cost analysis and margin analysis to support pricing decisions, operational efficiency initiatives, and strategic planning.
Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, risks, and opportunities, and prepare reports and dashboards to communicate insights to internal and external stakeholders.
Prepare dashboards and KPI reports to track financial and operational performance and clearly communicate key performance drivers.
Process Improvement & Systems Support
Conduct process and system analyses to identify opportunities for improved efficiency, accuracy, and automation.
Assist in developing, updating, and implementing financial policies and procedures.
Stay current with ERP systems, reporting tools, and financial technologies; recommend and support system enhancements and upgrades.
Qualifications
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
3-5 years of accounting or financial analysis experience.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and communicate complex financial information.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial/ERP systems.
High attention to detail and a strong commitment to data accuracy and integrity.
Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred
Experience with Power BI and ERP/accounting systems such as QuickBooks, Genius, and APplus.
Knowledge of GAAP, budgeting processes, and financial modeling.
CPA or progress toward a related certification.
