to join our Accounting team. This co-op role offers hands-on experience in financial administration, reporting, and data management. You'll support daily accounting activities, assist with month-end tasks, and help maintain accurate financial data and office documentation.

Starting from $25/hour, commensurate with education and experience.
Hours:
Part-time, up to 35 hours/week, Monday to Friday, starting at 8:00am
Term:
8-months with opportunity to extend or become permanent.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting Support:
Assist with recurring accounting tasks such as recording customer deposits, supporting invoicing, and organizing accounts payable documents.
Help generate accounts receivable summaries, financial reports, and income statement data for management review.
Support the monthly close process through account reconciliations, working papers, and data collection.
Assist with financial variance analysis to compare actual results against budgeted figures.
Participate in maintaining accurate financial records and updating accounting databases.
Administrative Responsibilities:
Maintain filing systems (digital and paper) for accounting documentation.
Prepare spreadsheets, reports, and presentations using Microsoft Office.
Assist with general office duties including answering main phone lines, handling mail, preparing correspondence, and supporting daily administrative workflows.
Support inventory management by assisting with count entry and documentation.
Assist with special projects involving process improvements, data analysis, or workflow digitization.
Ensure all financial and personnel information is handled with strict confidentiality.
Collaborate with other departments as needed.
Assist in coordinating internal events, the long weekend lunch program, and other initiatives (e.g., seasonal events, annual party, etc.).
Qualifications/Requirements
Degree, diploma or equivalent in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field - currently enrolled or recently completed.
Positive, proactive, and eager to learn in a team environment.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and documentation.
Comfortable working with spreadsheets, numbers, and large amounts of information.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Outlook) and with technology (computers, software, mobile phones, apps, etc.).
Strong time management and organizational skills; able to prioritize multiple tasks.
Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality with respect to employee privacy.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
High level of professionalism, reliability, and discretion when handling confidential information.

Work Conditions and Context
Travel
: Valid class 5 drivers' license, clean driving record, and readily available transportation to and from work are required. Precon is located outside of Lethbridge, so travel is required. Occasional out-of-area and overnight travel may also be expected for training purposes.
Conditions
: Work for this position will be performed mostly indoors in office settings, however, the candidate will need to be present in the manufacturing facility at times to interact with staff and gain knowledge about the company. Our manufacturing location in Coalhurst is a safety-sensitive facility with overhead and other hazards. It involves conditions of noise, dust, and exposure to weather conditions and the elements. Wearing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required (i.e., hard hat, high-visibility clothing, steel-toed boots, hearing and eye protection, mask, etc.).
Telecommuting/Working from home:
May be available for some special projects or tasks for this position. However, this role will still be required to work on-site for most tasks.
