THE OPPORTUNITY




The Senior Accountant will be responsible for completing and enhancing our monthly, quarterly and yearly activities of the Corporate Accounting department to ensure quality and accuracy of accounting records and financial reports for our Canadian and US operating and corporate entities. Requires the understanding of full cycle accounting, consolidation, intercompany transactions, and taxes.


This position is located at our corporate headquarters in Burnaby, BC.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES



Prepare, review, analyze and take full ownership for financial statements and address inquiries and issues with Regional Accounting Managers, department heads, and other accounting staff. Prepare quarter-end and year-end CaseWare files and financial statements Prepare and review account analyses and supporting documents for complex classes of transactions operating and corporate entities for interim and year-end audit. Prepare and provide department analysis including: + Understand and prepare labor inventory adjustment for operating entities and resolve discrepancies with Service Managers
+ Assist various departments in preparing, interpreting and completing tasks which impact financial information. Other departments include FP&A, Inventory, and Finance. Demonstrating competent knowledge and understanding of that department and its overall impact on financial reporting.
Provide leadership and guidance to junior staff by instructing and reviewing junior staff in performing their accounting functions Provide leadership and guidance to staff in various departments to ensure the correct accounting and processes are followed. Lead or participate in Ad Hoc projects that may include: + Assisting in accounting setups and data conversion during acquisitions and opening of new stores and dealerships.
+ Interpreting financial data to guide decision-making and advising on accounting matters, ensuring compliance with industry standards and departmental dynamics.
+ Working with operations in analysis and uses of ERP, and accounting system to identify and implement improvements and efficiencies in our departments.

WHAT WE LOOK FOR



Post-secondary degree or diploma in accounting with CPA designation required 6-8 years' related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly, consistently and openly Strong interpersonal skills. Capable of building relationships with multiple stakeholders within the company and other team members Ability to work both independently, with little supervision and within a team environment Able to use previous experience and technical knowledge to analyze an issue Strong time management, planning, and organizing skills Detailed-oriented Intermediate to advanced skills with MS Suite of products, especially MS Excel Curious minded, driven to learn and understand

SALARY




The salary range for this position is $85,000 - $100,000 annually.
