Job Purpose

Under the general direction of the accounting supervisor, this position is responsible to provide support in processing sales, purchases, and required posting to various sub-ledgers and the GL. The incumbent works in all aspects of accounting functions.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Support accounts receivable and payable functions through managing invoice processing and performing reconciliations.
  • Prepare bank reconciliations.
  • Post and process entries to ensure all business transactions are recorded.
  • Assist in the processing of month end general ledgers and related account analysis to support finalization if company financial statements.
  • Assist with review of revenue and expenses and perform payroll records analyses.
  • Prepare and submit weekly/monthly reports.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly/yearly closings.
  • Participate in the annual budgeting process.
  • Provide support and back-up to the payroll function.
General Responsibilities

  • Ensure optimal communication with all employees and internal and external partners.
  • Participate in special accounting projects as required.
  • Continuously update job knowledge by participating in training and other educational opportunities.
  • Protect company values by keeping information confidential.
  • Ensure compliance with quality assurance and safety programs to promote an incident and injury free culture.
Qualifications

Typically, the knowledge and skills required for this position include a certificate in accounting from an accredited college or university with a minimum one year of experience working as a junior accountant. Previous experience as an accounts receivable/payable clerk and enrollment in the chartered professional accountant designation program are assets. A combination of education and experience may be considered.
