POSITION OVERVIEW Provides accurate financial information related to the Corporation including financial, regulatory and legislative reporting. Ensures effective controls are in place and maintained to protect the integrity of financial data. Manages business and system process changes including interpreting business requirements, evaluating alternatives and designs, system configuration, acceptance testing and documentation. Remains current on internal and external business requirements. Accountants rotate approximately every 3 - 5 years to obtain a thorough knowledge of the business and the accountant position.
TYPICAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

(Not all inclusive or applicable to all assignments)
  • Responsibilities involve one or more of the following:
    • billing operations and development, customer remittance, accounts payable, pension and payroll;
    • cash management and credit services;
    • cost/margin studies and economic analysis;
    • financial reporting including revenue and asset management;
    • annual budgeting, long term forecasting and taxation;
    • inter-carrier relations, fraud and risk management
  • Ensures ongoing compliance with General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), CEO/CFO Certification, the Canadian Radio and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) and tax requirements when developing/enhancing business processes.
  • Reports corporate financial information including external public quarterly/annual reports, mandatory regulated and legislated reporting, customer billing information and internal management reporting.
  • Ensures effective controls are in place and maintained to protect the integrity of financial data including revenue assurance and expense recognition.
  • Manages business and system process changes, defines and interprets business requirements, analyzes and evaluates alternatives and designs, completes system configuration, acceptance testing and documentation of business processes.
  • Participates in development of long term and annual project, departmental and corporate plans.
  • Makes recommendations to management and provides support, guidance and direction to others.
  • Keeps current on products, services, industry initiatives and external factors impacting SaskTel and the Finance department.
  • Rotates between accountant positions within Finance approximately every 3-5 years. This continuous development provides the required experience to obtain a thorough knowledge of the business and the accountant position.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Professional accounting designation (\xe2\x80\x9cCPA\xe2\x80\x9d, \xe2\x80\x9cCPA,CA\xe2\x80\x9d, \xe2\x80\x9cCPA,CMA\xe2\x80\x9d, \xe2\x80\x9cCPA,CGA\xe2\x80\x9d) OR University Degree with eligibility to either enter the CPA Professional Education Program (PEP) OR completion of the CPA Pre-requisite Education Program (PREP).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to deal effectively with others.
  • Ability to develop recommendations and present proposals to management.
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and decision making skills.
  • Excellent ability to plan, organize and manage complex projects in a self-directed environment.
  • Excellent ability to lead and initiate change.
  • Ability to direct and train others.
