This position provides the option to work from home on Mondays and Fridays each week, with the requirement to report to the primary NOVA Chemicals work location on Tuesdays through Thursdays. Employees can opt out of the hybrid schedule and will be expected to work Monday-Friday from the primary work location.

We are currently seeking a Natural Gas and Ethane Accountant , reporting to the Coordinator, Manufacturing West Plant Accounting, and part of the Accounting Services Team within Finance. In this role, you will be responsible for managing accounting for natural gas and ethane for our manufacturing facility in Joffre, Alberta.

You Will Use Your Expertise To:
Independently manage all aspects of natural gas accounting including:
Own the monthly calculations and analysis of the weighted average cost of gas
Review and code monthly natural gas invoices for payment
Review and reconciliation of monthly natural gas inventory

Responsibility for ethane accounting including:
Responsible for creating, calculating and settling production orders for ethane, storage and transportation
Understand receipt of ethane and create and maintain purchase orders
Calculate and create co-stream accruals and billings
Review and code monthly ethane invoices for payment
Provides financial support to business teams, as needed
Reconciles complex accounts and issues and provides detailed explanations, analysis, and recommendations
Investigates and resolves non-routine and complex issues
Provides timely response to internal and external audit requests, ensuring compliance with internal control policy and processes
Analyze and provide commentary for monthly business results
Participates in cross functional teams and actively engaged in process improvement initiatives
Completes ad hoc requests, as required

What We Are Looking For:
University graduate with 5 \xe2\x80\x93 7 years of related experience OR 10+ years combination of post-secondary education and related experience
Accounting Designation (CPA) and in-depth understanding of IFRS strongly preferred
Proficient use of SAP and Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel
Demonstrates strong analytical, problem solving, organization and interpersonal skills
Demonstrates an aptitude to understand complex processes and computerized financial and operational systems
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with and provide quality customer service to both internal and external customers
Ability to work independently and cross-functionally across the organization and within your own team to solve problems, collaborate, and create value through collective action
Ability to perform effectively and strive for results under tight deadlines with multiple priorities
Ability to apply skills and knowledge to changing issues and situations

Additional Information:
Relocation will NOT be considered for this position
Compensation will be commensurate with education and experience
This role requires up to 10% travel
