The Little Red River Cree Nation (LRRCN) has lived on the ancestral lands of northern Alberta since time immemorial. The lives of our members are linked to the land and to a close understanding of traditions, history and a natural way of life. Most of our members live in the communities that comprise the LRRCN: John D'or Prairie, Fox Lake and Garden River. The Little Red River Group of Companies, the wholly owned business arm, is focused on the function and growth of existing sustainable, profitable economic development initiatives and the development of new economic development initiatives that have strategic value for the Little Red River Cree Nation.

Description



We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) to join our team. The CPA will play a critical role in the financial strategy of the organization, ensuring fiscal responsibility, and driving business growth. This position requires a strong background in financial services and corporate finance, capable of guiding our financial planning and analysis efforts while fostering a culture of accountability and excellence within the existing team. The CPA will play a critical role in supporting the strategic vision of LRRGC. The successful CPA will focus on overseeing the day-to-day administrative functions ensuring peak efficiency and productivity.

This position will be a hybrid role, requiring the individual to be in the High Level office 1 week per month.



Roles & Responsibilities



Develop and implement financial strategies that align with the company's goals and objectives. Oversee all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting. Lead the accounting team in managing cash flow, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and account reconciliation processes. Collaborate with other departments to support business development initiatives and drive sales and growth. Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and maintain accurate financial records. Provide insights on financial performance to the executive team and board of directors to ensure informed strategic decision-making. Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the finance team through effective leadership and mentorship. Collaborate closely with the executive team to set and achieve operational goals and to provide direction to the rest of the organization. Foster a culture of collaboration and accountability within the organization, ensuring effective communication and coordination across teams. Build and maintain strong relationships with external partners, stakeholders, and government agencies to advance the interests of the LRRGC. Provide regular reports to the executive team, offering insights into operational achievements, challenges, and opportunities.

Qualifications



Proven leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate teams. Strong expertise in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis. In-depth knowledge of corporate finance principles and practices. Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in managing multiple priorities. Proficient in business development strategies that drive revenue growth. Strong negotiation skills to effectively manage contracts and partnerships. Experience in sales processes as they relate to financial performance is highly desirable Strong people management skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and strong presentation skills. Excellent analytical skills and strong attention to details. Strong Microsoft computer skills (MSWord, Excel, and Outlook) Strong understanding of the economic and cultural landscape of Indigenous communities, particularly in northern Alberta, with a unique appreciation for the challenges and opportunities they present. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders and community members, both internally and externally. Experience working with First Nation owned businesses considered an asset. CPA Certification is required.

Other Requirements



Possess a valid Class 5 AB driver's license. Willingness and ability to work evenings and/or weekends when required. Willing to work a flexible schedule. Combination of working remotely and in-office. Must provide a clear criminal record vulnerable sector check.
