About the Role:
Corus has an exciting full time opportunity for a General Accountant in our Toronto head office. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Finance, you will work closely with both finance and operational groups to accurately report financial results. As the successful candidate, you have a proven track record of driving continuous improvement in a strong internal controls environment, and completing a timely monthly financial close and reporting process. You have demonstrated strong communication skills, meeting expectations of finance and operational teams you support, and the ability to prioritize multiple objectives.

You will contribute by:

  • General accounting duties, including the preparation of monthly adjusting entries, accruals, and payments reconciliation
  • Process program rights invoices: , code, obtain approvals , track invoices, apply payments in the program rights database
  • Responsible for reconciliation of media services operational expenses, preparation on monthly journal entries
  • Responsible for preparation of the new additions cash flow, reconciliation, and preparation of the journal entries to record monthly discounting on assets and liabilities
  • Respond to Vendor inquiries, investigate invoice related issues/inquiries from various internal Corus departments
  • Prepare audit samples selections for internal and external auditors
  • Prepare ad-hoc analysis, reports, and special projects as necessary

Skills and Experience you will bring:
  • University graduate in Business Administration, Finance or Commerce; studying towards completion of recognized accounting designation such as CPA
  • Minimum 1+ years of related finance experience in large organization
  • Advanced Excel and database skills required
  • Strong business acumen including through understanding of financial accounting principles
  • Advanced analytical skills demonstrated by ability to get into the details and understanding big picture simultaneously
  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems both independently collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, with multiple and changing priorities;
  • Excellent communication skills with both finance and non-finance staff
  • Project management, consensus and leadership abilities
  • Interest in review of process flow and providing recommendations for improvement
  • Keen attention to detail and accuracy
