The Sedulous group of companies is comprised of approximately 40 employees, 5 principals, and we also work with a variety of sub-contractors who assist us in our work.

Summary:



We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced accounting professional to manage day-to-day financial operations with a strong emphasis on accounts payable, GST/HST compliance, reconciliations, and financial recordkeeping across multiple corporate entities. This role supports both month-end and year-end close processes, payroll, AP/AR and plays a critical part in maintaining accurate cost accounting systems. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with full-cycle accounting, is proficient in multiple accounting software platforms, and thrives in fast-paced, corporate environments.

The corporate accountant will work directly with our engineering teams, our corporate management teams, as well as our existing administrative personnel to ensure the seamless delivery of monthly accounting processes, payroll and accounts payable/receivable across our organization. Working with our Part Time Controller and reporting to our Board of Directors, the position will expand on and enhance current work programs to meet the needs of our growing companies.

The position is Full Time permanent and requires attendance at our office on a daily basis.

Position Responsibilities:



Perform day-to-day accounting and bookkeeping duties, including accounts payable and accounts receivable across multiple entities.

Maintain general ledgers and ensure all transactions are accurately recorded across multiple entities.

Process bi-weekly payroll, maintain accurate employee records, ensure compliance with federal, provincial and local regulations.

Manage and reconcile bank and credit card accounts regularly across multiple entities.

Liaise with external accounting firm and external clients in a professional manner as needed.

Work with our Part Time Controller in preparing reports, reconciliations, budgets, accrual analysis, internal control analysis and financial analysis across multiple entities on a monthly basis.

Track intercompany transactions and allocations, as needed to support the board.

Collaborate with internal teams to ensure accurate coding of expenses and timely data entry.

Create and maintain monthly accounting tasks calendar; ensure that timelines are being adhered to and communicated to the board of directors.

Establish scalable financial processes and controls that support organizational growth while maintaining accuracy and integrity. Ensuring proper financial and corporate records as required.

Assist with the creation of administration training manuals and process workflows.

Perform general financial office duties and other tasks as requested.

Experience and Qualifications:



Must have a post-secondary degree in a related field (i.e. Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting or Finance).

Must have completed a professional accounting designation (CPA).

Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in a full cycle accounting role, with progressive levels of responsibility.

Advanced Excel proficiency and a keen interest in learning new technology. Proficiency with Xero and Quickbooks accounting software platforms considered an asset.

Possess strong communication skills to build collaborative relationships with corporate leadership, business partners and to provide guidance & instruction to peers in the organization.

Ability to prioritize tasks and meet tight timelines in a fast paced and evolving environment

Excellent attention to detail, time management, with a strong desire for continuous improvement.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $60,000.00-$105,000.00 per year
