Reporting to the Director of Finance, the successful candidate will have a passion for the environment and expertise in general accounting functions, reconciliation and analysis.





As a key member of the Finance team, the

Accountant

will be responsible for managing assigned accounting transactions, GL reconciliations and analysis and maintaining accurate financial records

.

While each member of ECO Canada has individual responsibilities, ECO takes a team-based approach. Everyone is encouraged to take ownership of their ideas and to see them through to completion, collaborating with key influencers as required.





Responsibilities







Process all accounts payable (AP) invoices and corporate credit card (CC) transactions, ensuring timely and accurate entry of financial data. Manage the credit card tracker, send follow-up emails, and coordinate special AP payment approvals as needed. Prepare and roll over monthly working papers, review for completeness, and send reminders to teams to support month-end close activities. Perform monthly Visa reconciliations and maintain prepaid expense schedules, including amortization entries. Complete ad hoc accounting tasks and provide additional support depending on staff capacity and departmental needs.

Qualifications




High attention to detail and accuracy in processing and reviewing financial data. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify discrepancies or issues in accounts. Time management and organizational skills to meet recurring monthly deadlines. Proactive communicator who is comfortable sending professional email communications. Team-oriented but also capable of working independently with minimal supervision.

Education and Experience




Post-secondary degree or diploma in accounting or a related field Minimum 2 years of hands-on accounting experience Proven experience in Accounts Payable, credit card transaction processing, prepaid schedules and amortization Proficient in performing account reconciliations Strong experience in month-end close processes Experience using MS 365 or similar ERP/accounting systems is highly preferred.

This position is a Full-Time, temporary contract position until March 31, 2026

This role is based at ECO Canada's Calgary head office (unless otherwise noted). After a 3-month probation period, eligible employees may transition to a hybrid schedule with at least 3 days per week in the office.
