CPA accounting firm is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounting Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will support various accounting functions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with financial regulations. This role is essential in maintaining financial records, assisting with personal and corporate tax filing, and providing valuable insights through account analysis. The Accounting Assistant will work closely with other team members to streamline processes and enhance overall efficiency.
Duties
Assist in the preparation of financial statements and reports.
Perform bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy of accounts.
Conduct account reconciliation to verify transactions and resolve discrepancies.
Utilize accounting software, including QuickBooks online and desktop, for data entry and reporting.
Support Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) review processes by providing necessary documentation and information to CRA.
Analyze accounts and prepare reports on financial performance.
Filing GST/HST with Canada Revenue Agency and GST-QST with Revenue Quebec.
WSIB filing
Payroll processing on QuickBooks desktop and online and providing source deduction amount (PD7A) to clients.
Assist accountant in preparation of financial statement and corporate tax filing for several clients corporations.
Assist accountant in personal tax filing.
Collaborate with the finance team to improve accounting processes and procedures.
Maintain organized records of all financial transactions and documentation.
Perform or assist with other services and special projects as needed.
Establish and maintain positive relationships with clients by communicating clearly and professionally.
Skills
Fluency in English, French is an asset
Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks desktop and QuickBooks online. Proficiency in Xero is an asset. Pro-advisor certification is required in QuickBooks online and desktop.
Degree in bookkeeping and accounting will be an asset.
Strong understanding of financial services, corporate finance, and accounting principles.
Excellent analytical skills for effective account analysis and reconciliation.
Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy in financial reporting.
Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while managing individual responsibilities.
Strong organizational skills to maintain orderly records and documentation.
