Working Conditions:





The Account Manager will be based out of one of two Shaw Insurance offices, but may be expected to travel to other offices in order to provide relief. The base location of work is also subject to change based on operational needs, and at Shaw Insurance's discretion.



Occasionally, an opportunity may arise to work overtime hours. All overtime hours must be pre-approved by the manager. Unauthorized overtime is not permitted and will not be compensated.

POSITION SUMMARY:





The RIBO licensed Account Manager will be responsible for providing exceptional sales support, ensuring client retention through continuous marketing efforts, and driving new business growth. The role requires a strong understanding of insurance products, excellent communication skills, and the ability to build and maintain client relationships. The Account Manager will also contribute to personal and organizational development by participating in staff meetings and continuously improving technical and sales skills.



The Account Manager is expected to support an assigned Producer as their first priority. As workload or opportunities arise, the Account Manager can focus on and complete new sales activities as a part of their new business generation.

RESPONSIBILITIES:




Complete and document appropriate endorsement requests to insurance companies as directed by Sales Producer. Maintain an active diary in insurance broker management systems (BMS) to track all client communication; ensure accurate client records by completing administrative activities in BMS. Collaborate with Sales Producer to ensure timely issuance of requested new business. Explain coverage and exclusions to clients, documenting explanations in BMS for future reference. Work with clients to ensure adequacy of coverage and limits. Provide necessary information and clarifications about clients to company personnel and document systems accordingly. Create letters to clients offering coverage, share information, and advice regarding insurance matters. Review existing policy coverages annually with Sales Producer and remarket if necessary. Collect client information for schedules of insurance, summaries, and renewal proposals. Contact insureds to assist in the collection of past due premiums and retain a specified percentage of accounts a teach renewal. Develop and maintain relationships with insureds. Actively participate in staff meetings. Identify training needs and develop a personal improvement plan in collaboration with management; take responsibility for learning and improving technical and sales skills regularly. Read and interpret technical manuals and insurance information from carriers, vendors, and publishers. Other duties as assigned.



New Sales Generation:




Identify and develop insurance prospects and appropriate markets. Respond quickly and effectively to referrals. Prequalify insurance prospects for insurability and quality of risk. Design insurance plans and recommend coverage to clients. Survey loss exposure, needs, and exposures for clients. Create insurance proposals and make sales presentations to prospective and existing clients. Complete and submit applications and related documentation to appropriate insurance markets. Educate clients concerning agency payment expectations and cancellation procedures. Acknowledge non-standard coverage limitations and binding restrictions to document files and minimize errors.



EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION and QUALIFICATIONS:




College or university education or equivalent insurance experience. Must hold a valid Registered Insurance Broker of Ontario (RIBO) license. CAIB designation preferred. 2 years of experience as a Customer Service Representative. Familiarity with insurance broker management systems, particularly Powerbroker, is advantageous.



KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:



Full knowledge of insurance products, coverages, and industry operations. Adequate understanding of rating procedures and underwriting procedures. Ability to generate new business sales, retain existing business, and close sales. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues. Ability to prioritize tasks effectively and manage time efficiently in a dynamic work environment. Attention to detail and accuracy in work. Collaborative mindset with a willingness to support team members and contribute to a positive work environment. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Suite applications. * Valid driver's license and frequent access to a reliable vehicle to be able to meet with clients off site as needed.
