The Small Business Account Executive is responsible for acquiring new small business customers and expanding existing relationships within an assigned service territory. This role uses a consultative sales approach to deliver Internet, phone, and TV solutions to a wide range of local businesses, including retail, professional services, agriculture-related operations, hospitality, and other small enterprises.
This is a results-driven, relationship-focused position that combines proactive prospecting, in-person engagement, and ongoing account management.
This is an on-the-road position and you will be provided with a company vehicle/gas card.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Business Development
Identify, prospect, and close new small business customers within assigned territories
Grow market share across rural and regional areas
Conduct needs-based sales conversations to recommend appropriate Internet, phone, and TV solutions
Build and maintain a strong sales pipeline through cold outreach, referrals, and community engagement
Account Management
Manage and grow a portfolio of small business accounts
Identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities as customer needs evolve
Partner with internal teams to ensure a smooth onboarding and implementation experience
Serve as a trusted advisor and primary point of contact for assigned customers
Territory & Market Engagement
Develop a strong understanding of local markets, competitors, and customer needs
Represent the organization at community events, chambers of commerce, and local business initiatives
Provide feedback to leadership on market trends, pricing, competition, and product opportunities
Administration & Reporting
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records within CRM systems
Track sales activity, pipeline performance, and revenue forecasts
Consistently meet or exceed monthly and quarterly sales targets
Qualifications & Experience
Required
2+ years of experience in B2B or small business sales (telecom, technology, or services preferred)
Strong prospecting, negotiation, and closing skills
Comfortable conducting sales outreach in person, by phone, and through digital channels
Valid drivera??s license with the ability to travel within rural and regional areas
Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills
Preferred
Experience selling Internet, telecommunications, or technology solutions
Knowledge of rural and regional business environments
Experience with CRM platforms such as Salesforce, Spotio, Pipedrive, or similar
