Accessible Digital Books Project Coordinator

Job Description


The LPG is seeking a full-time (35 hours per week) Accessible Digital Books (ADB) Project Coordinator to provide quality assurance support for our Accessible Digital Books project, along with the development of marketing assets. This 16-week contract position will commence on or around November 20, 2023. This position is for an entry-level publishing professional interested in supporting independent Canadian literary publishers in the final stages of accessible eBook conversion, and marketing the collection of accessible-format eBooks to readers and specialized audiences. The ideal candidate will be creative, curious, and well organized, and they will have a passion for reading and literary publishing.

Summary of Responsibilities
The ADB Project Coordinator will work with LPG staff, our partner organization eBound, and participating publishers to support a collective accessible eBook conversion project. This position requires planning, communications, and design skills, as well as a strong customer service focus. The successful applicant will be offered training opportunities to support their tasks.

Conversion Process Support & Project Administration

  • Complete training on ADB quality assurance.
  • Provide support to publishers for quality assurance of converted files.
  • Provide proofreading, research, administrative, and other project support as assigned.
Marketing, Communications, and Design
  • Working with LPG staff, the Project Coordinator will continue developing the marketing strategy for our collection of accessible eBooks.
  • Update collective marketing campaign creative concept and assets.
  • Update messaging for target audiences.
  • Update graphics for social media messaging.
  • Update ADB merchandising lists on All Lit Up/eBooks for Everyone.
  • Create blog content to feature books from the collective on All Lit Up.
  • Provide proofreading, research, and other project support as assigned.
Requirements: Qualifications
  • Strong critical thinking and writing skills, with attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal communications skills, including by phone and videoconference.
  • Some knowledge of marketing concepts and strategies.
  • Intermediate design skills using Adobe Creative Suite and Canva.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Familiarity with eBook production, HTML, and/or Accessible Media development is an asset.
  • Self-starter who can work independently and as part of a remote team.
  • Post-secondary education, ideally in publishing, or equivalent relevant work experience.
Additional Info: Compensation
$22 per hour

Location
The LPG\xe2\x80\x99s office is in Toronto at 234 Eglinton Ave. E., Suite 502. We continue to work primarily remotely. Applicants located anywhere in Canada are welcome.
