Reporting to the Director of Human Rights and Equity Initiatives within the Centre for Equity and Inclusion (CEI), the Incumbent serves as a senior advisor and consultant on matters related to operationalizing full accessibility and inclusion at Sheridan. The Incumbent creates and implements a multi-pronged accessibility and inclusion strategy that is aligned with legislative requirements, organizational goals, and CEI's mandate in order to shift culture, build awareness and sustain an accessible and inclusive, welcoming, and supportive environment for all students, employees and campus visitors, including people with disabilities.
The Incumbent collaborates with relevant areas of the institution to develop and implement a Sheridan-wide accessibility framework, which ensures all Sheridan goods, services and facilities, including academic and business initiatives, comply with Human Rights legislation and Accessibility Standards under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities, 2005 (AODA). The assessment and review of policies, practices and procedures (including Sheridan's delivery of goods, services and facilities) will be designed to identify, remove and prevent barriers, eliminate system discrimination, and foster equitable treatment. The Incumbent acts as a subject matter expert in the coordination and development of the mandated Sheridan Accessibility Policy, Multi-Year Accessibility plans, Status Reports, and other documents as required, in line with methods and timelines to ensure compliance with the Accessibility Standards under the AODA.
The incumbent addresses accessibility, equity and inclusion issues and feedback in cooperation with applicable areas at Sheridan. The incumbent may be called upon to participate in AODA audits, on-site inspections, and compliance reporting.
