Compensation Range $7,283.75 - $10,474.08 CAD Monthly
The Compensation Range is the span between the minimum and maximum base salary for a position. The midpoint of the range is approximately halfway between the minimum and the maximum and represents an employee that possesses full job knowledge, qualifications and experience for the position. In the normal course, employees will be hired, transferred or promoted between the minimum and midpoint of the salary range for a job.

Job Summary
The purpose of this position is to develop and implement organizational change strategies, initiatives, policies, processes and programs that promote an accessible, safe and welcoming learning, living and working environments at UBC Okanagan; and, determine and facilitate disability related accommodations for students, faculty and staff supported by the Disability Resource Centre.
Organizational Status
Disability Resource Centre provides leadership on issues of accessibility for people with disabilities on the UBC Okanagan campus and facilitates disability related accommodations for members of the UBC Okanagan campus. This position report to the Manager of the Disability Resource Centre, and works collaboratively as a member of a team of professionals, actively participating in and contributing to the development and implementation of educational programs and organizational change initiatives. This position works in collaboration with UBC faculty and staff, student organizations, and community groups to achieve common goals.
Work Performed

• Develops and implements organizational change strategies that promote accessible learning, living and working environments for individuals with disabilities on the UBC Okanagan campus.
• Participates in the development of the Disability Resource Centre strategic plan, policies, and processes
• Requires in-depth knowledge of discipline or subject matter, as well as working knowledge of managing programs, projects and/or teams within a unit to achieve objectives.
• Requires In-depth knowledge of relevant university policies, processes, procedures and guidelines, as well as applicable external standards, regulations, and best practices gained through involvement in diverse practices and precedents
• Develops programs and outreach services that enhance the experiences of a diverse population of students and assists the University in creating safe and welcoming learning, working, living and playing environments.
• Coordinates advising services and the management of complex cases involving academics for students with disabilities supported by the Disability Resource Centre
• Builds partnerships and connections with key stakeholders and groups across the university, in government and in the community.
• Provides consultation services to faculty and staff regarding the impact of policy, process and programming issues on access to post-secondary education who may face barriers as a result of a disability.
• Determines and facilitates reasonable accommodation for students with disabilities based on documentation of disability provided as articulated in UBC Policy LR7, Disability Accommodation Policy.

• Advises the members of the University community on the provision of accommodations for people with disabilities.
• Develops and participates in program evaluation and research projects that focus on student educational needs, equity issues and learning environment.
• Conducts ongoing evaluations of relevant policies, programs and services and recommends improvements.
• Liaises with individuals, community organizations, professional organizations, post-secondary educational institutions, government and other partners to enhance post-secondary access for a diverse population of students.
• Communicates about programs, services and issues, and links internal and external resources and information as related to post-secondary education.
• Promotes awareness and education on matters relating to post-secondary access for diverse populations of students and develops, supports, encourages, and promotes provincial, national and international programs and post-secondary access in conjunction with other post-secondary educational institutions, off-campus agencies and government departments.
• Prepares reports, publications and other written work as required and maintains up-to-date student file notes and information.
• Performs duties consistent with the position and the role of the Disability Resource Centre as requested.

Consequence of Error/Judgement
Failure to meet the expectations of the job may create severe hardship for prospective and current students, faculty, staff and visitors to UBC Okanagan and/or severe public relations or legal difficulties for Disability Resource Centre and the University. This position exercises judgment and makes independent decisions. Misinterpretation of University policies, human rights and/or the legal obligations of the University and/or misinformation provided to students, staff, or faculty can have serious legal ramifications to the University, its faculty, staff, and students.
Supervision Received
Supervision will be provided by the Manager, Disability Resource Centre. This position acts independently within established ethical and professional guidelines.

May supervise project staff, student employees and volunteers.
Minimum Qualifications
Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline. Minimum of four to five years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

- Demonstrates a commitment to enhancing one's own awareness, knowledge, and skills related to equity, diversity, and inclusion
Preferred Qualifications

• Graduate degree in an applicable discipline preferred.
• Considerable training and experience in issues related to disability, universal design and duty to accommodate in a post-secondary setting.
• Demonstrated experience in evaluating program delivery and impact.
• Proven ability to design and implement organizational change initiatives.
• Demonstrated ability to plan ahead, direct the work of others, and ensure deadlines are met.
• Proven ability to take direction, lead others and to function as an effective team member.
• Ability to envision and implement innovative programs and initiatives.
• Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks and projects.
• Demonstrated outstanding oral and written communication skills and the ability to build rapport with staff, students, faculty and community partners.
