SALARY:

$69,726 - $93,363 per annum

DUTIES



The Academic Programs Specialist will work with the Executive Director (ED), Academic to drive academic initiatives and help realize the priorities established in the Strategic and Academic Plans. They will be responsible for coordinating key projects, gathering information, preparing documents, and providing recommendations to support the development, management, and execution of initiatives that contribute to the long-term success of the academic division.


The Academic Programs Specialist will be an integral part of the ED, Academic's team, contributing to the development and execution of key academic initiatives. The incumbent works with highly confidential information on a regular basis including preparation of correspondence related to confidential communications internally and with government, funders and other key partners about projects and academic program or process changes being considered. Additionally, they would have access to government proposals and correspondence, information related to labour management relations, contract negotiations and projects.


The successful candidate will be a proactive and detail-oriented team player with a passion for higher education, who possesses exceptional writing and interpersonal communication skills. They will also have experience analyzing and synthesizing data, writing grant applications/proposals and have extensive knowledge of the program development and renewal process within a post-secondary environment.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS


Master's degree in business administration, communications, humanities, public administration or a related field. Candidates with a combination of education and recent, relevant experience may be considered Several years of experience preparing and/or reviewing proposals or grants Several years of experience in project coordination and implementation with a proven track record of delivering initiatives on time and within budget Ability to develop, collaborate on and execute academic initiatives in a team-based setting at a senior level Extensive experience in researching, developing, and evaluating complex policy and programs Experience interpreting and/or applying legislation, regulations and/or policy to remain in compliance Superior writing skills with meticulous grammar and spelling Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders Demonstrated ability with taking initiative on work Excellent interpersonal, analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills. Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously Superior skills in project coordination software and tools Proficient in MS Office, presentation software, Visio, Database (such as Access Database) Experience building a respectful workplace culture that promotes diversity, learning and continuous improvement



ASSET QUALIFICATIONS


Experience working in a post-secondary institution or government department (with focus on post-secondary) Knowledge of higher education policies and regulations with emphasis on program development and renewal
