ROLE SUMMARY
Reporting to the Director General, the Academic Dean is responsible for all aspects of the administration of academic programs at Cegep Heritage College, and within the existing administrative structures, for the attainment of the College's academic mission and objectives. The Academic Dean is a recognized leader with a collaborative approach to management, values a student-centered philosophy of education and has an extensive knowledge of Cegep college education and curriculum development. The Academic Dean demonstrates commitment to formal quality assurance processes for a Cegep environment and is familiar with the Cegep system in the Quebec educational context for both regular and Continuing Education and with educational technologies. The Academic Dean needs to understand the realities faced by our English-language college situated in the Outaouais region of Quebec.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
More specifically, the Academic Dean is responsible for:
ensuring the quality of teaching and learning in the College.
ensures compliance with Ministry and the Federation des Cegeps' policies and regulations.
ensuring the development of strategic planning for Academic Services.
the evaluation of teaching, student learning and programs.
the management of human, material and financial resources related to teaching.
assuming responsibility for the development and management of institutional academic policies.
managing (planning, organization, direction, control and evaluation) of all academic programs and departments as well as all academic matters of the College.
being ex officio chair of the Academic Senate.
being an ex officio member of the Board of Governors.
assuming all other duties and responsibilities assigned by the Director General, by College bylaw or policy or by resolution of the Board.
exercising the duties and powers of the Director General if the latter is absent or unable to act.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREDBilingualism is required, with strong communication skills in both English and French (spoken and written). Candidates may be required to undergo language testing to confirm proficiency levels.
A Master's degree in a related field.
A minimum of five (5) years experience in a formal management position involving administrative oversight and direct leadership of staff.
Experience working with Indigenous and multicultural communities.
Six (6) years of full-time teaching experience, preferably at the Cegep level.
Management experience at a Cegep (e.g. Academic Dean, Associate Academic Dean, or Dean) would be considered an asset.
