- Academic Associate (Research Nurse)
Department: Clinical Research Unit, The Neuro - McGill UniversityRead and understand clinical trial protocols. In conjunction with neurologist and/or internist, administer and manage medication infusions, collect laboratory samples (draw bloods, collect urine samples etc), monitor patient symptoms, collect and record laboratory data and perform all other nursing related tasks. In conjunction with study coordinator and other medical staff, interpret information received on patients and select the most appropriate procedures and trials for performing the research and ethics administration activities. Ensure that the activities are performed in accordance with clinical trial protocol and University and sponsor policies and procedures. Communicate information to the doctors, research coordinators, patients and pharmaceutical companies on new information pertaining to patients, changes to regimens, deadlines in terms of tests to be performed (i.e., CT scan, blood tests, etc), regulatory information, etc. Teach patients how to self-administer medication as per clinical trial protocol. Provide nursing coverage of study patients up to 40 hours/week, flexible time as mandated by each clinical trials protocol, including coverage of evenings, nights, and weekend clinical trial patients. Attends all internal and external meetings as requested by the medical director and/or the pharmaceutical company. Functions as a record-keeper in terms of patient information pertaining to the study and is accountable for the follow-up of business. Obtain lab results from Oacis for patients who come to MNI for routine blood and urine testing for Lemtrada and Gilenya and reports abnormalities to direct supervisor. Perform JCV and NABS testing and ship them out via courier Record lab results in appropriate documents for patients on Lemtrada, patients who have done JCV testing and NABS Perform and log TB testing results Submit Lemtrada and Tysabri Infusion reports post infusions Perform blood draws/assessments outside the clinic when patient is unable to come to The Neuro Use clinical judgement and reports any issues to direct supervisor in regards to IP administration Works flexible hours depending on clinical trial requirements (evening shift, night shift for patients staying overnight)

Job Status: Full-time
Length of Appointment: Full time position of 40 hours per week for one year.
Salary: Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Qualifications required: Registered Nurse or Bachelor of Nursing with 2 years or more of clinical research nursing experience. Must be a member of a relevant professional order (OIIQ active licence).
