Reporting to the Accessibility Services Manager, this position requires an energetic individual with strong communications skills to support students with disabilities and mental health concerns in a classroom (in person and/or virtually).
Position Details
The Academic Aide duties include, but are not limited to:
Attend class with student.
Take notes (if required).
Support students in understanding course content through review, test preparation, & strategies specific to course content.
Use basic strategies to support students who have complex behavioural needs (as identified and recommended by Accessibility Services).
Support students in upholding classroom expectations for each class they attend.
Aides may be expected to assist students with navigating in the blended learning environment (attend classes through video conference).
In person or virtual attendance is dependent on the academic programming in each program area.
Required Qualifications
Experience working with adult learners with disabilities from a variety of backgrounds.
Proficiency in technology is a necessity.
Successful candidates must be willing to obtain a Vulnerable Sector Police Information Check.
Preferred Qualifications
Effective communication, interpersonal, organizational skill to participate effectively in a learning environment with assigned students.
Experience working in an educational environment (post-secondary or high school preferred).
Educational Assistant (EA) students and graduates are preferred.

AUPE Class Level 3 Step 1 $18.54/hr
