Academic advising at First Nations University of Canada is a developmental process that considers students' academic needs, goals, interests and prior education. Academic advisors promote student success and increase student enrollment and retention by promoting programs and services, recruiting for programs and referring students in need of additional resources. Advisors are also responsible for understanding and interpreting the university's policies and academic options of all programs to help facilitate the student's academic success. This position reports to the Director of Student Success Services.



Responsibilities:



Assist students to make informed decisions about their educational goals. Refer students to other departments, agencies, institutions and services. Research and develop resources to assist students in understanding academic regulations, policies, procedures and programs. Research and provide input into the development of policies, processes and programs. Promotion, recruitment and department development. Act as an agent of the Registrar.

Qualifications:



Bachelor's degree in a related field. Two to three years' experience in academic advising or related careers in post-secondary education. A combination of education and experience may be considered. Broad knowledge of the Saskatchewan post-secondary education system and community resources. Strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to provide outstanding customer service. Understanding and appreciation of First Nation values, norms, and traditions. Ability to speak a First Nations language is an asset. Working knowledge of the uniqueness of the FNUniv and its relationship with First Nation communities and the University of Regina. Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite and experience with Banner.

Salary Range:

APT Salary - PG 5: $67,075 - $90,315
