Northern Grounding Ltd. is seeking a motivated and technically driven
Project Engineer or Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T.)
to support and lead
AC interference modeling and grounding system design
projects across Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, or BC. This role involves electromagnetic modeling, fieldwork, and technical reporting for major utility and industrial clients. Applicants must reside in one of the listed provinces and be registered (or eligible) with their provincial engineering association.
Key Responsibilities:
Model AC interference and grounding systems using SES Software (CDEGS suite) and Right-of-Way tools (training provided if needed)
Assist or lead field crews for grounding installations and data collection in diverse environments
Support or conduct CAD design development and technical drawing reviews
Research technical concepts and interpret results using industry software
Prepare clear, data-driven technical reports with visual outputs
Contribute to project budgets, schedules, and client communications
Participate in proposal writing and business development tasks
Assign or support work by junior technical staff and coop students
Maintain compliance with client safety standards and ISO-9001 processes
Participate in safety and quality initiatives and attend training sessions
Required Qualifications (P.Eng. or E.I.T.):
Bachelor's degree in engineering
Registered or eligible as an E.I.T. or P.Eng. with APEGA, Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba, APEGS, or Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC)
Demonstrated interest or academic/field exposure to grounding systems or electromagnetic modeling
Willingness to train and develop proficiency in SES Software (CDEGS suite) and Right-of-Way
Strong grasp of vector calculus and engineering fundamentals
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proficient with Microsoft Office and CAD tools
Highly organized and self-motivated with the ability to work remotely and collaboratively
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with CDEGS modules (SESCAD, MALZ, HIFREQ, FFTSES, etc.)
Prior work in consulting or utility environments
Programming or scripting experience for analysis automation
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:
Primarily remote or office-based with occasional travel and outdoor fieldwork
Must be able to sit for long durations, use field equipment, and adapt to outdoor work environments
Travel may be required across Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, or BC
