Aboriginal Head Start [AHS] is an early learning program providing a range of early childhood development experiences for Indigenous children ages 3-5 addressing Culture and language, Health, Education and Nutrition. The program also offers activities to support and endorse parents and guardians as children's primary teachers through Parent and Family Involvement and community resource connections.
We are currently seeking applications for a Satellite Coordinator at our Cranberry Portage program site. This role will commence on January 5, 2026.
Under the guidance of the AHS Project Director, the Satellite Coordinator is responsible for planning and delivering culturally integrated activities that support children's development according to the AHS Program workplan to address program components of Culture & Language / Education / Health Promotion / Nutrition / Social Supports / and Parental, Family Involvement. The role includes Coordinating recruitment, registration and orientation for Program enrolment, maintaining a safe and nurturing environment, engaging families, assessing children's needs, and collaborating with community resources/services.
Hours of work: Monday-Friday, 35 hours per week, 39-40 weeks per year.
Wage range: $23-28/hour pending qualifications of:
Certificate in Early Childhood Education level II or III and/or combination of education and experience, with a focus on children ages 3-5
Ability to plan, organize and instruct program curriculum
Ability to lead and inspire participation and engagement
Experience working with Microsoft Office products and Virtual Learning Tools.
Excellent communication skills and abilities
Knowledge of Indigenous culture, traditions, values and customs.
Ability to speak Cree language will be considered an asset
Knowledge of Child Care regulations and guidelines
Knowledge Child & Family Services Act
Valid Driver's License and the ability to obtain Class IV Driver's License
Ability to work within a flexible environment
Excellent health
Must have or be willing to obtain First Aid and CPR certificates
Employment is subject to a Criminal Information Record Check and a Child Abuse Registry Check
Must sign an Oath of Confidentiality and maintain confidentiality at all times
