Position Overview



The 5-Tonne Delivery Driver is responsible for operating company-owned 5-tonne delivery trucks to transport goods safely and efficiently across the Halifax Regional Municipality and occasionally throughout Atlantic Canada. This position requires professional driving skills, strong attention to detail, and a high standard of customer service. The role includes manual loading/unloading and use of material handling equipment.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities



Operate 5-tonne delivery trucks for business-to-business and inter-company deliveries. Load and unload goods using pallet jacks, dollies, and other MHE (Material Handling Equipment). Deliver items including large pallets, kegs, and heavy parcels (up to 75 lbs). Use electronic route planning and manifest tools to ensure timely and accurate deliveries. Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and maintain daily driver logs. Follow road safety regulations and company safety procedures at all times. Represent Community Courier and Micco Companies with a high level of professionalism. Communicate with dispatch and clients to ensure efficient routing and delivery confirmation. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Essential Skills



Valid Class 5 Driver's License (Class 3 with Air Brake Endorsement is an asset). Clean driver's abstract and ability to pass a criminal background check. Ability to lift and maneuver heavy packages up to 50 lbs unassisted. Strong time management, organization, and communication skills Familiarity with GPS and delivery software tools. Reliable, punctual, and capable of working independently.

Experience



Minimum 1 year of professional experience operating a 5-tonne truck or similar commercial vehicle preferred. Previous delivery or logistics experience in a fast-paced environment is an asset.

Education



High School diploma or equivalent required

Considerations



Must be willing to work flexible shifts, including early mornings and occasional weekends. May be required to travel overnight within Atlantic Canada. CSA-approved safety footwear required; boot voucher provided.

Work Schedule



Full-time role, Monday to Saturday availability. Typical shifts: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, 9:00 am - 6:00 pm, or as assigned based on delivery needs.

Working Environment



Work is performed in a truck and on delivery routes across urban and rural areas. Exposure to varying weather conditions and frequent lifting and movement. Home base is in a warehouse setting.

Compensation



$22 - $25 based on experience onus incentives tied to performance results.
