About the Role


We are currently seeking a 3rd/4th Year Apprentice/Journeyman Machinist to join our growing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up and operating precision metal cutting and grinding machines (including lathes and milling machines) to manufacture and repair components to exact specifications. This position requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety.

Key Responsibilities and Duties



Complete required Health & Safety documentation including Field Level Hazard Assessments (FLHAs), PPE inspections, vehicle/trailer/tool inspections, and Focus Observation Cards (FOCs). Perform a wide variety of machining tasks such as: Base milling Portable machining Pipe cutting and bevelling Line boring Flange facing Stud removal Operate manual lathes, mills, and other manual shop machining equipment as required. Read and interpret blueprints, technical manuals, and detailed drawings to ensure all work meets industry specifications. Participate in daily and monthly Health & Safety meetings. Support Field Millwrights with field operations as needed. Collaborate with other trades to complete mechanical scopes of work. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Perform additional tasks as required.

Qualifications



Education/Certifications



Journeyman Machinist certification from an accredited post-secondary institution (or currently working toward completion). Mandatory safety certifications: H2S Alive, CSTS, WHMIS, and Standard First Aid. Additional safety tickets considered assets: Confined Space Entry, Fall Protection, and Overhead Crane. Additional education considered an asset: Journeyman Millwright certification.

Experience



Minimum 2-5 years of experience as a Machinist or Apprentice Machinist.

Knowledge & Skills



Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, etc.). Advanced ability to read and interpret technical manuals, safety documentation, blueprints, drawings, and diagrams. Strong mathematical skills for calculations, measurements, and performance specifications. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. High attention to detail and a strong focus on safety. Strong organizational and prioritization skills in a fast-paced environment. Analytical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Knowledge of recommended installation procedures. Manual dexterity, motor coordination, and physical strength.
