Position Summary

With the premise of protecting the public being the highest order priority, along with a community of members exceeding 75,000, APEGA acknowledges and embraces the criticality of data - its quality, security, privacy, accuracy, timeliness and integrity - as critical and imperative to core business, compliance obligations, and in support of APEGA's overall trust and relevance. The Data Analyst role designs, plans, monitors, and enhances the organization's data governance and data management functions.

The Data Analyst's role is to assist in building, deploying, and maintaining data support tools, metadata inventories, and definitions for database file/table creation. This individual will also assist with designing data modeling/analysis services used to mine enterprise systems and applications for knowledge and information that enhance business processes.

Responsibilities

Work with Developers to coordinate the creation and management of data queries. Design, develop, and maintain ETL processes to extract, transform, and load data from various sources into other storage systems. Ensure data quality, optimize ETL processes, and collaborate with other team members to meet data integration needs. Provide and apply quality assurance best practices for data analysis services across the organization. Collaborate with unit managers, end users, development staff, and other stakeholders to integrate data management applications with existing systems. Develop, implement, and maintain change control and testing processes for modifications to data models. Create data definitions for new database file/table development or changes to existing ones. Determine required network components to ensure data access, as well as data consistency and integrity. Develop routines for end users to facilitate best-practice use of data management tools. Work with Developers and Systems Analysts to monitor data management system details within the database, including stored procedures and execution time, and implement efficiency improvements. Document processes and systems, assess data models, entity relationship diagrams and their respective technology integration points. Consultative activities related to assessing and evaluating options and providing key recommendations.

Nurturing Innovation Thinking Strategically Knowledge and experience establishing functional, performance, stress and load, integration, regression, system as well as user acceptance testing Knowledge of software development life cycle (SDLC), software testing life cycle (STLC), structured systems development concepts Knowledge and experience preparing and using test strategies, plans, scenarios, cases and test data Knowledge of test automation tools Knowledge testing integrations between multiple commercial products and custom services such as Aptify, Sitefinity, Formatta, SQL and other services Knowledge of testing ERP applications is an asset Knowledge with data integrity testing Experience using development and testing tools from Atlassian, Microsoft or other industry standard tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, Zephyr) Proficient in Microsoft Office tools Experience using functional test automation tools (e.g., Katalon, Selenium, Cypress, TestComplete, etc.) Experience managing software testing for enterprise level applications Experience using SQL Experience testing APIs Strong analytical and research skills to identify and resolve issues Able to evaluate user requirements and interpret system specifications A team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills Able to provide user support and training during UAT Attention to detail

Qualifications

University degree in the fields of Computer Science and/or Commerce/Business Administration Minimum of five (5) years of experience in data analysis Strong technical knowledge related to Information Technology space, particularly in technology assets related to the business' IT operations Strong understanding of how different functions (e.g., Regulatory, Finance, etc.) will have different data uses and requirements Proven experience in data management planning, organization and development Strong understanding of project management specifically related to software development life cycle Knowledge and experience of DAMA DMBOK and the different disciplines of data governance/management
