The Role: Developmental Wellness Worker (Full-time)
Trellis Society seeks Developmental Wellness Workers to aid our 24/7 Residential and Shelter Programs. Support Workers help clients improve their quality of life and define what success looks like for them. The position involves supporting 24-hour, Harm Reduction, and Housing First programs for youth and young adults.
This position requires a 36-hour work week, with either three 12-hour shifts per week or 4 9-hour shifts.Three 12-hour shifts per week: 7:00 pm - 7:00 am OR 7:00 am - 7:00 pm
Four 9-hour shifts per week: 3:00 pm - 12:00 am OR 7:00 pm - 4:00 am
Weekend shifts: 8:00 am - 8:00 pm OR 8:00 pm - 8:00 am
AND mandatory attendance for Monthly Team Meeting
Key Tasks & Responsibilities:
Provide support to clients who are ending their experience with homelessness.
Support clients in advocating for placements and supports needed to deal with their issues around homelessness and/or sexual exploitation.
Intervening and de-escalating crisis situations as they occur.
Utilize Harm Reduction and Trauma-Informed practices to mitigate client risks.
Support and teach necessary life skills for successful community living.
Act as a liaison as needed between natural supports, families, social workers, doctors, and other professionals involved with clients.
Timely completion of case notes, safety planning, and Reportable Incidents reports.
Plan, implement, and participate in client-driven program activities.
Attend required training opportunities within the appropriate timeframe and monthly team meetings.
Provide transportation to and from appointments, programs, and activities, ensuring safety and punctuality
Other duties as required.
Knowledge and Skill Expectations:
Degree or diploma in Human Services with recent and relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and ability to learn database systems.
Concise and clear communication (verbal and written) and problem-solving skills.
Experience or in-depth understanding of Harm reduction and Trauma Informed Practice is considered an asset.
Up-to-date Standard First Aid and Level C CPR training.
Ability to provide a clear Criminal Record Check with vulnerable sector search and Child Intervention Record Check.
Access to reliable vehicle with a $2M liability insurance and a valid Class 5 Driver's License.
Reporting Relationship:
This position directly reports to a 24/7 Program Manager.
