TEACHER LIBRARIAN QUALIFICATIONS

There is a significant body of research that demonstrates that a qualified teacher-librarian has a positive impact on school culture and student achievement. Indeed, several studies have established that teachers collaborate more in schools with a teacher-librarian and students read more, enjoy reading more, write better, access and use information more effectively and excel in academic content areas. They also need to have the knowledge and skills necessary to recommend learning resources and assist students who are working on classroom projects and self-directed studies. Successful course completion in the areas of teacher-librarianship, literacy, information studies and learning resource management is necessary.. A commitment to complete coursework, towards a Librarian Certificate, at their own expense, unless already done, will be a requirement of this position. Specific training in the library-automated system will be required prior to beginning the posted position.
