Contract Dates: July 4-7 and July 31- August 4, 2023 ROSS RIVER SCHOOL (RRS) \xe2\x80\x93 Ross River Home to the Kaska Dena people of the Ross River Dena Council, Ross River school is one of 11 Yukon schools that have joined the newly established First Nation School Board (FNSB) in the Yukon. Kaska is the traditional language of the Kaska Dena people. Ross River School is a K-12 school with approximately 55 students. We are actively seeking committed and qualified educators who are dedicated to living in and being an active member of the community and who can adapt well to a remote lifestyle. Please clearly demonstrate on your cover letter and resume, how you meet the following qualifications and experience:
- Grade 12 graduation or equivalent;
- Experience working with youth;
- Post-secondary training in Exceptionalities Worker Program, Special Education, Teacher Education, Early Childhood Education, Social Services or Medical Services would be an asset. DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND SUITABILITY:
- Ability to work effectively with students, teachers and parents;
- Adaptability to cope with a wide variety of situations;
- Ability to work as a member of a team;
- Good organizational, interpersonal and communication skills;
- Flexibility to undertake a variety of assignments;
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Preference will be given to teachers currently employed by the Department of Education;
- Successful applicants must provide a current successful Criminal Record Check inclusive of a Vulnerable Sector clearance.
