Pension Plan
Full-time employees can join our group pension plan after two consecutive years of employment. Employees contribute 5% of their gross earnings per pay, which is matched by the Y. After three consecutive years of full-time service, participation in the YMCA pension plan becomes mandatory.

Serving a vibrant, multicultural community and welcoming up to 200 visitors daily, EarlyON | Oak Creek is co-located with the City of Kitchener's Huron Community Centre, a Child Care Centre, and Oak Creek Public School. As one of the region's most active and highest attended EarlyON Centres, we are seeking an experienced leader who thrives in a fast-paced, complex environment and can balance hands-on support with strong operational oversight.

What you will do...
Team Leadership & Development:
Lead a diverse team of full-time and part-time employees across varying shifts. Provide mentorship, coaching, and professional development to build leadership capacity in educators, designates and Assistant Supervisors, and foster a culture of collaboration, inclusion, and continuous learning within the centre. Lead through complexity with clarity, calmness, and a solutions-oriented mindset.
Operational Oversight:
Ensure smooth daily operations and high standards of program delivery by providing environments for parents and caring adults to engage in play alongside their children and other families. You will engage parents and caring adults in conversations and information sharing to support them in their role as the expert of their own child.
Strategic Leadership:
Through active leadership, align team efforts with YMCA Strategic Priorities - People, Places, Partnerships and Pathways - to ensure programs remain responsive to evolving community needs, centre needs, best practices and funder guidelines.
Program Quality & Engagement:
Champion high-quality early learning experiences rooted in How Does Learning Happen?pedagogy. Support adult-child relationships and inquiry-based learning through hands-on engagement and reflective practice.
Equity-Focused Leadership:
Model and promote equity, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of leadership. Create welcoming and engaging environments for families and staff from diverse backgrounds and lead with cultural humility and a customer service mindset.
Community Collaboration:
Build and sustain strong relationships with community partners, co-located services, and stakeholders. You will establish and foster partnerships with community partners to support in the development and facilitation of targeted and universal programming to ensure all children and families are connected to relevant supports and resources.
Administrative Management:
Oversee staff and volunteer records, financial accountability, and data collection. Ensure compliance with safeguarding policies and organizational standards.
What you will bring...
Experienced Leader:
Minimum 5+ years of supervisory experience in child and family settings, with a proven track record of leading diverse teams in dynamic environments and building positive team culture.
Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE):
Deep understanding of child development and early years pedagogy, with a focus on How Does Learning Happen? Ontario's Pedagogy for the Early Years.
Strategic & Operational Thinker:
Skilled in balancing day-to-day operations with long-term planning and system alignment maintaining a positive outlook to change management.
Strong Communicator:
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and multi-tasking skills, with the ability to inspire and engage across all levels.
Equity Champion:
Demonstrated commitment to inclusive leadership and supporting diverse communities.
Flexible & Mobile:
Willingness to work evenings and Saturdays, and travel across the region as needed.
Fostering a Positive Team Culture:
Skilled in building a positive team culture through relationship-building, communication, coaching and development and problem solving.
Additional Information:
The regular work location will be EarlyON | Oak Creek, 80 Tartan Avenue, Kitchener, ON N2R 0N2; however, this may be subject to change based on operational needs.
