You will gain hands-on experience in financial analysis, reporting, modeling, forecasting and process improvement while collaborating with diverse teams and leaders across RBC.
What will you do?
This is a high-level summary of responsibilities across the various CFO Group opportunities. These may vary by team.
Prepare, analyze, and interpret financial results, forecasts, budgets and variance reports
Develop and enhance financial models, dashboards, and data visualizations (Excel, Power BI, Tableau, or other tools)
Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations and disclosure reporting
Conduct data analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, supporting strategic decision-making
Support internal control processes, compliance requirements, and regulatory reporting
Partner with business unit to provide financial insights and recommendations
Identify and implement opportunities to automate, streamline, or improve financial processes
Participate in ad-hoc projects, performance measurement initiatives, and special analyses
What do you need to succeed?
Must have
Currently enrolled in a Canadian post-secondary institution in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics or related discipline
Eligible to complete a work term starting January 2026 (4, 8, 12, or 16 months)
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with high attention to detail and accuracy
Proficiency in MS office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Effective communication skills (verbal and written)
Ability to work collaboratively and independently and adapt in a fast-paced environment
Ability to prioritize, handle multiple tasks under pressure and meet time-sensitive deadlines
Nice-to-have
Previous co-op or work experience in finance, accounting, data analytics, or financial reporting
Knowledge of financial reporting, derivatives, financial products and concepts (balance sheet, liquidity, etc)
Experience using analytical tools and managing large data sets
Experience with coding or analytics tools (Python, VBA, SQL, R, C, HIVE) and/or data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau)
Knowledge and an understanding of financial statement analysis
Interest in pursuing a CPA or CFA
Please note:
In order to be eligible for these student positions, you must either:
Be returning back to school after the work term end-date; or
If you are not returning back to school (i.e. are graduating immediately after the work term), you must require the full work term as a mandatory component in order to graduate successfully
